For those keen on a romantic adventure, this excursion is the perfect match!
Switzerland-Tour will organize your trip based on your own preferences, providing the most personalised trip, just for you. On this trip, you will have the chance to visit the loveliest Alpine Town of Annecy in France with its accompanying beautiful landscapes and the rich heritage sites.
Begin your journey from any convenient location in Geneva. Hop into one of our comfortable cars or minivans for a short but pleasant ride to the charming town of Annecy, driving by our expert driver-guide. This location is situated 35 km away from Geneva and right at the base of the snow-covered French Alps.
People know Annecy as the “Venice of the Alps” due to the Thiou River that flows through the town, creating canals reminiscent of Venice. Located beside the clear waters of Lake Annecy, the town offers a large green park with walkways, tiny bridges, quaint fountains, beautiful swans and various options of boating activities.
Wander around and explore the delightful Old Town, which was built in the Middle Ages. Take a look at the central landmark of Annecy – the Palace of the Island “Palais de L'île.” It is a medieval quadrangular building, originally designed as a court and prison in the 12th century which has more recently been converted into an art and history museum.
You will also have the opportunity to discover the wondrous Chateau d'Annecy – a re-established castle, dominating the town as a historical memorial. The castle shows the development of the princely palace from the 13th to the 16th centuries.
In the past, the castle served as a military barracks and became a museum after the Ministry of Armies purchased it in 1953.
After an informative guided tour in the old town of Annecy, you will be offered several entertaining options, including a visit to the Menthon Saint Bernard, a castle built in the 13th century. Proudly situated on a rocky outcrop overlooking the town, it offers a magnificent panoramic view of the whole area. Château de Menthon means a house on a rock. This castle consists of 105 rooms which are now open to the public.
Alternatively, you could experience this extraordinary city by boat. The boat trip sails across the lake where you will see tiny villages dotted across the shores, making the perfect, pretty view.
Once you’ve explored the town, you’ll enjoy a delicious meal at a canal-side restaurant before returning to Geneva via private transfer, filled with happy memories and hopefully, some spectacular photos!
