Switzerland Tour invites you to spend a carefree day discovering the very best of Zurich with an amazing Swiss tourism deal.
Book this exciting excursion from Zurich to the Black Forest, Titisee and Rhine Falls to witness one of the most amazing and natural scenes in Southern Germany. It’s the perfect day out for lovers of nature and seekers of adventure!
The Black Forest is a huge forest in the mountainous region in the state of Baden Württemberg. Its name comes from the massive bulk of pine trees that grow in the area. The Roman soldiers were the first to use the name “Black Forest” (German Schwarzwald) due to the shadows that the enormous trees cast in the area. As they passed through Germany, they were met by a path obscured by gloomy forest with a powerful, musky aroma. Thus, they called the region “Silva Nigra,” literally meaning “the pitch black, musky forest” in Latin.
At that time people avoided entering the Black Forest, with its overbearing feel and sinister appearance. It is this same forest which was the inspiration for numerous Grimm Brothers stories. For example, Hansel and Gretel, who discovered the wicked witch’s house in the woods. However, nowadays, the Black Forest is listed among the favorite tourist destinations, shrouded in magic and mystery.
You’ll begin your private trip from any convenient location in Zurich. Sit back and relax in one of our comfortable cars or minivans to admire the passing expanse of green woodlands by the Lake Schluchsee. Upon arriving at the heart of Black Forest – Titisee-Neustadt, you will be free to wander around and experience the magical atmosphere for yourself.
In the Alemannic dialect Teti means “little child” or “baby.” The Titisee Lake can be roughly translated as the lake from which children came. Here you’ll be given the opportunity to explore the area at your leisure or take an optional boat ride and taste the region’s famous dessert – the Black Forest cake, prepared from luxurious chocolate, whipped cream and gorgeous cherry brandy.
You might also like to dedicate some of your leisure time to visit the Drubba Clock Shop, where you will be amazed by the large collection of the original Cuckoo Clocks.
Next, continue the journey to the Rhine Falls, where you will be surprised by the breathtaking view of Rhine River – considered to be the most spectacular waterfall in Europe. Here you’ll enjoy the fresh, clean air and watch as the waters of Rhine Falls pour down from the huge 23-meter height.
If architecture is more your bag, then you’ll love the traditionally formed border between the different countries, Rhine was an inspiration for many impressive man-made structures including the local castles and other fascinating and intricately designed buildings.
At the end of your fabulous day, your friendly driver will transfer you back to your starting point leaving you with the happiest of memories.
